In an effort to preserve the Barbara Fritchie House as a historic landmark, the  Ausherman Family Foundation purchased the home at auction in 2015, renovated the historic exterior features and documented artifacts from the original house. The documentary was created to ensure Barbara Fritchie's legacy lives on in the Frederick community.  With a shared vision and passion, the Chaney family purchased the home in 2017 and opened it as an Airbnb inviting guests to experience Historic Frederick in a unique way.

The Ausherman Family Foundation is a private foundation, established in 2006. The Trustees envision a thriving community of vibrant spaces and places, with a superior quality of life, and strong and collaborative nonprofit organizations. The Foundation’s mission is to empower the passion for change in Frederick County, Maryland.
